These are standard costs of the Dutch au pair program — paid directly by the host family.
If your au pair leaves early and we determine it wasn't due to host family issues, you can apply for a new au pair at a reduced agency fee. The discount depends on how long the previous au pair stayed — the sooner they leave, the larger the discount on the replacement fee. The IND visa fee for the new au pair is additional.
Yes. The Philippine government requires contract legalization at the embassy in The Hague. The host pays €25 directly at the embassy, and Sunshine charges €150 (incl. VAT) for the administrative work — scheduling, document preparation, contract drop-off/pick-up, and courier to the au pair.
This covers arranging the residence permit card pick-up, city hall registration (BSN), supporting with DigiD, Dutch bank account, Basic Healthcare insurance, care allowance (zorgtoeslag), GP registration, TB test appointment, and BRP extract request. We handle the admin — your au pair attends the appointments.
At departure, we support with deregistration from all relevant organisations and the IND.
No. The €423 IND visa procedure fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the application. If the IND rejects the application due to host family circumstances or fraudulent au pair documents, no refund or compensation applies.
If you cancel before the application is submitted to the IND, an administrative fee of €500 (Connection Service) or €300 (Self-Match) applies if we've already started collecting documents. If the application has already been submitted to the IND and the au pair cancels, we'll make every effort to find a replacement. If no replacement is requested, a partial refund applies (75% for Connection Service, 25% for Self-Match), excluding the IND fee.
For Filipino au pairs, the host family pays both ways. For other international au pairs, the outbound ticket is arranged between the host and au pair (either party can pay). The host family pays for the return ticket. Early termination arrangements are outlined in the Host Family and Au Pair Agreement.
