The Flow of Administrative Tasks in the Netherlands

  1. Get a Dutch phone number – Can do before arrival  
  2. Book city hall appointment for registration – Can do before arrival 
  3. Collect residence permit at IND – Biometric data may be needed 
  4. Get BSN number 
  5. Set up DigiD account 
  6. Open a Dutch Bank account 
  7. Set up Dutch Basic Healthcare insurance (basisverzekering) 
  8. Register for Heathcare benefit (zorgtoeslag) 
  9. Register with a Dutch GP (huisart) 
  10. Some nationalities – register with your national embassy. 
  11. Book your TB test if required for your nationality.  Follow up if necessary.
