Arrival Tasks

What is the first step after the au pair arrives in the Netherlands?

The au pair must pick up their Dutch residence permit card at the IND office. The agency will notify you when it’s ready and provide instructions for attending the appointment.  Attendance is required only by the au pair.

    • Sunshine au pair will send both the host and au pair notice of when the appointment is scheduled.   These emails will come from followup@sunshine-aupair.com so please kindly check the Spam filter.
    • The au pair must provide biometric data (photo, fingerprints, and signature).  It is usually provided in their own country, during their visa sticker appointment.  It must be provided before receiving their Dutch residence card.
    • If biometric data was provided insufficiently during the visa appointment, it will need to be provided in person at the IND office.
    • In these cases, the IND send a letter to our agency reporting the missing biometrics.  The agency will then inform the hosts and au pair by email to book an appointment to collect the data.   The agency will book that biometrics appointment.
    • Once biometrics are provided, the IND typically takes up to 2-3 weeks to issue the residence card. The agency will notify the au pair when and where to collect it and book the appointment for that.
    • Changing the location of the appointment will incur significant delays.
